These 2 flagships are completely different in nature, and to compare them is quite difficult. But often buyers try to make a choice between these smartphones. We will try to help them with this.
Let’s start with the obvious – displays. The iPhone 7 uses a screen with a diagonal of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 1334×750. Many users do not like it, because such a cool flagship and without the FullHD display in the 21st century looks not great. In fact, everything is extremely logical: Apple maintains the perfect balance between the screen diagonal and its resolution. FullHD resolution is not needed for a screen diagonal of less than 5 inches. At 1334×750, everything is perfectly visible on the display, and it is impossible to see individual pixels. But such a resolution reduces the load on the processor and the battery, which makes the phone faster and more autonomous. So Apple in this case cares about users. Otherwise, the display of the iPhone 7 wasn’t changed much – it’s still the same cool Retina screen with maximum viewing angles and cool colors.
SuperAmoled display with QHD-resolution in the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S7 is slightly better. There is a suspicion that the technology SuperAmoled is by far the best, and many developers are trying to get it to use in their phones. A huge QHD resolution with a diagonal of 5.1 is practically not useful. Such a resolution is appropriate on huge TVs with a diagonal of 40 or more inches, but not on a small screen of a mobile phone. Of course, the desalinization is excellent, but the load on the CPU and the battery is large, and this can be considered as a drawback.
Despite this, the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S8 displays are the best on the market. It so happened that Samsung is the leader in this field. By the parameter of brightness, viewing angles, color rendition, behavior in the sun, etc. they have no equal.
The Apple iPhone 7 uses a powerful processor Apple A10 Fusion, which for a number of parameters is better than the predecessor A9. We will not list its characteristics, but let’s show a table of mobile performance for April 2017. The data is taken from the official Antutu blog.
iPhone 7 Plus (result of the test is 177220 points)
Samsung Galaxy S8 + (172640)
Samsung Galaxy S8 (172636)
iPhone 7 (170936)
OnePlus 3T (159547)
Next comes another list of devices, and only on the 18th place is Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (141744 points), and on the 22nd place – Samsung Galaxy S7 (without the Edge prefix) (140407 points).
So Samsung Galaxy S7 based on the Exynos 8890 processor cannot compete with the performance of the iPhone 7, and its lag is very significant: 140,000 points against 170,000. Nevertheless, even the result of 140,000 points for the flagship is good.
By the way, the new flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 (and Galaxy S8 +) based on the chipsets Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 could not bypass the Apple A10 Fusion. Read it in detail here. So in this comparison, iPhone 7 wins with a big margin.
IPhone 7 Plus received great two-module sensor, which became a kind of revolutionary change in the world of cameras for smartphones. In the iPhone 7 without the prefix Plus everything is a bit simpler: here uses one rear sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels and optics with an aperture of f/1.8. There is optical stabilization and overall the quality of photos is better if to compare with predecessor of the iPhone 6. But we note that there are no revolutionary changes in the iPhone 7, they are only in “Plus” model.

About Samsung S7 camera
The camera in the Samsung Galaxy S7 phone is represented by the Sony IMX260 sensor. It does not have a description on the manufacturer’s website and never used in other smartphones. Therefore, it was created specifically for the Galaxy S7. Unlike iPhone, the aperture here is better – f/1.7, the pixel size is 1.4 microns, the Dual Pixel focusing technology is used (the focus is on the whole area of the matrix). Overall, the S7’s camera compared to its predecessor was is better, although it seemed that it could not be better. Now there is less noise and blur in the darkness, brightness and clarity of the picture has been increased, new settings, modes, plots appeared in the application.

Both phones are beautiful in terms of cameras and to determine the winner is extremely difficult. Subjectively: we will give victory to the Korean flagship Samsung,. It seems to us that the noise level is smaller while the picture is enlarged. In general, the Samsung Galaxy S7 camera is the strongest side of this flagship.
Usually, Apple does not indicate the battery capacity of its gadgets. This is clear, because their capacity is 1600 mAh, and this is not good for a modern smartphone, especially for a flagship. Autonomy is not only the capacity of the battery, but also the optimization of energy consumption by components. iPhone 7 will not live much longer than the same sixth iPhone, so you can calculate about 4-5 hours of the turned-on screen. This means that the flagship will live from morning till evening, but not more than that. User need to charge it every night. And if to consider that it has a fast charging function, it seems that autonomy is quite normal.
But Samsung has provided more information. Their device Galaxy S7 has a battery of 3000 mAh, which is standard for the flagships on Android. Without any significant restrictions this phone will work 12 hours – from morning to evening. At the same time, you will be able to sit in the Internet, watch movies, chat in a social network. And all this at a brightness of 60-70%. It’s worth noting that 60% of the brightness of the S7 screen is approximately 100% of the brightness of the displays of other gadgets. So Korean mobile phone made by Samsung takes a victory.
Conclusions and video reviews
In our opinion, the best in this pair is the iPhone 7 due to the higher performance of hardware and the iOS operating system. And the camera of the flagship Apple shows excellent results.
