Gas and electric oven troubleshooting guide

stove-maintenance-tips

There are certain rules of operation of gas and electric ovens and stoves. They must be observed for personal safety. But also it will increase the lifespan of household appliances. So right electric and gas oven maintenance in your best interest.

Gas oven maintenance tips

  • Thoroughly study the instructions supplied with the device, immediately after the purchase of a gas stove, and before the first of use! Note that this document contains all the necessary and important information for the safe operation of the gas stove.
  • Cleaning the surface of the plate should be carried out according to the instructions. It is necessary to use only manufacturer-recommended cleansers.

There are a number of recommendations to increase the efficiency of the oven. For example:

  • follow the advices of manufacture in matters of food heating, installation modes and temperature conditions;
  • for cooking use only pans which come complete with a gas stove;
  • do not place the foil on the inside surfaces of the oven;
  • heat the oven to the required temperature to prevent condensation from products with high water content. This simple operation will also protect the lower heating element from dripping.

Hob glass ceramic also requires adherence to certain rules:

  • Avoid alkaline cleaning agents and hard metal sponge. Change them to the soft tissues and special substances for cleaning the glass-ceramic.
  • Do not use the hob as a table.
  • Check the bottom of the cookware you use. It should be smooth, otherwise it can damage a glass ceramic.
  • Match the size of the dish with a diameter of the cooking zone.
  • The surface can be cleaned only after complete cooling.

stove cleaning

Developers offer several ways to facilitate our work of cleaning. There are variety of special coatings and self-cleaning system. But first things first.

The simplest models of ovens do not have a self-cleaning systems, no special coating. To care for them there are detergents for stoves and ovens. Such reagents are not expensive – near. When cleaning ovens remember that any contamination is easier to remove from the walls if to soak them with water and leave for a while.

Easy to clean enamel is used in the same low-cost devices without self-cleaning systems. Fat doesn’t stick to such surfaces and it can be easy removed with a damp cloth. Cleaning agents can be used also. If to clean a chamber of the oven after each use, the device will last long and will delight you with its appearance for a long time.

In ovens of Gorenje Ardo production hydrolytic treatment is uses. Its working principle is based on the evaporation of the liquid: superheated steam softens the dirt. Such a method can be used in any oven. It is enough to put pan with water and detergent, turn-on the mode “Bottom heat” and leave it for 25-30 minutes. The steamed dirt can be easy removed with soft cloth. In ovens with hydrolytic purification acid-smooth enamel Aqua Clean is uses, so oil and dirt cannot penetrate inside.

This is a simple and cheap way to clean the oven, without aggressive alkaline detergents. However, strong pollution cannot be removed in such way. Even after the hydrolytic treatment the oven still will need to be washed. Steam cleaning only facilitates washing, so this method cannot be called a “self-cleaning system”. By the way, you clean with a steam only stove with high-quality enamel walls.

The most common method of self-cleaning is named “catalytic”.  It does not require a significant complication of the structure of the oven. The method is in a special coating of internal surfaces – as porous sponge the enamel absorbs fat, which during cooking cycles at 200 ° C under the influence of atmospheric oxygen and carbon black is split into water. Thus, the self-cleaning process occurs constantly, all the time, yet it works. But the class of cleaning is not as high as during the pyrolysis (will later speak about it), and the large patches of fat will not disappear immediately.

Walls and a rear wall of the fan blade are usually covered with catalytic enamel. It isn’t used for the “flour”. The fact is that it “fears” of sugar and milk. The catalytic enamel can be cleaned in traditional way, ie. with a cloth and detergent, but do not use the abrasive powders or harsh washcloths.

The main disadvantage of the catalytic coating is short life. It leaves only for 4-5 years. Therefore, manufacturers often set the removable catalytic panels, which can eventually be easily replaced with new ones. And it can be done independently. Most removable panels with a catalytic coating are bilateral. Once the enamel is erased on one side, you can simply rearrange the panel by the other side and forget about the problem for another 5 years.

The most expensive and the most effective self-cleaning  system is pyrolytic. The essence is simple: program heats the working chamber to 480-500 ° C. At this temperature, all the dirt is simply burned and after completion of the program the remainder handful of the fat (ashes) you just brush with a napkin.

Only devices of the elite class are equipped with pyrolytic cleaning system. Gas ovens cannot boast with such a system, because gas cannot be heated to required temperature. The enamel that covers the inner surface of the oven is designed for high temperatures: it does not crack and does not peel off even after many pyrolytic cleaning cycles. So such ovens are easy to clean.
